Artificial intelligence (AI) unicorn Ola Krutrim has announced a partnership with Chinese consumer electronics major Lenovo to develop India’s largest supercomputer.
As per Moneycontrol, Ola Group’s chief information officer (CIO) Navendu Agarwal said that the supercomputer will be powered by Krutrim’s cloud offerings. He also reiterated that the AI unicorn is also building its own “foundational models” and a chip.
“We are building the largest infrastructure and again very proud to say along with Lenovo, we are building the largest supercomputer of India. That will be powered in our cloud. Then we are also building the foundational models and our own chip,” Agarwal reportedly said at the Lenovo TechWorld India 2025 in Mumbai.

As per the report, the company’s CIO also noted that the AI startup is also working on Krutrim 3 model, which will be trained on 700 Bn parameters.
“We are very proud to say that we are working on a bigger model, Krutrim 3, which will be a 700 Bn parameter model, which will be an answer from India to show that we can build the best. And we are very proud to partner with Lenovo in this endeavour,” added Agarwal.
It is pertinent to note that Krutrim’s first model, developed in late-2023, was trained on 7 Bn parameters while the second model was built on 12 Bn parameters.
Meanwhile, the Ola executive also noted that the company has a 700-strong workforce dedicated solely to building its full-stack AI offerings. He added that Krutrim, within its AI-first cloud, is building use cases such as application layers, agentic platforms, contact center AI, manufacturing AI, among others.
“We are also building agentic platform in a way that it can be used by the startups and the ecosystem so they can build applications for the country at the right cost point and cloud will be that vehicle and on this, along with Lenovo and other companies here, we will partner to make it Sabka Vikas, together. That’s our vision,” Agarwal reportedly added.

This comes a month after Aggarwal announced an investment of INR 2,000 Cr into Krutrim, alongside an additional commitment of INR 10,000 Cr by next year.
Krutrim has also filed a proposal for building an indigenous foundational AI model under the INR 10,000 Cr+ IndiaAI Mission.
Lenovo’s India Pitch
At the same event, Lenovo India MD Shailendra Katiyal said that the consumer electronics company is on track to manufacture all of its personal computer (PC) models in India, including AI PCs, in the next three years.
Highlighting that Lenovo manufactures 30% of its PC models locally, Katiyal said that the company plans to hit the 50% mark next year and 100% by 2028. He also said that the company’s first AI-powered servers will be rolled out from its India manufacturing unit starting April 1.
Meanwhile, Lenovo is also looking to shore up its AI talent in India and expand its research and development (R&D) capabilities in the country, as per a Business Standard report. The company also announced the establishment of another R&D centre in Bengaluru at the event.
Calling India as “one of the most important markets in the world” for Lenovo, the consumer electronics brand’s president of international markets, Mathew Zielinski, said the company’s “AI hub” will focus on developing next generation AI graphics processing units (GPUs)-based servers in India.
“Think about hardware, software, firmware, testing validation…all things that are required to build a successful future-proof and advanced product line will take place in India,” Zielinski said.
